I'm A "Green" Diva

This post is probably TMI about me... but health and wellness are things I am passionate about from head to toe, inside and out-- to include menstrual health. Any of you heard of The DivaCup? I use to sell it at my online store. I'm now out of stock. The other day I got to thinking how long it has been since I first started using a menstrual cup in lieu of tampons. It's been about 4 years now at least. I'm sure it was either shortly before or after I got Sisterlocks Either way... it too is a decision I don't regret making much like my decision to get Sisterlocks. I had been a tampon user since a teen and had become increasingly concerned about toxic shock syndrome. Not because I had ever experienced any symptoms but I just got to wonderin' were there any OTHER options to tampons and pads. Oh the wonder of the Internet... I got to Googlin' up some stuff and lo and behold... alternatives existed and had existed for years. You may be amazed as I was that there ...

Avoid Fat Sisterlocks Ends

"I want Sisterlocks like yours... I hate my fat Sisterlock ends!"   This typically happens to Sisterlock'd ends of hair with a thick soft wavy texture. After it occurs, the only remedy I have learned of to date is to CUT OFF THE OFFENDING ENDS. To avoid or control the normal swelling expected on your journey to loc maturity-- particularly, of the thick soft wavy hair type, follow the next set of rules: 1. BAND YOUR ENDS EVERY TIME YOU WASH YOUR HAIR. You may need to do so longer than the regularly prescribed time period until YOUR particular hair type locks. 2. DON'T wet, spritz or spray your ends with anything (Sisterlocks Moisture Treatment product included) unless they are banded. 3. When you shower, at the very least-- WEAR your shower caps my loc'd thick soft and wavy sistahs! Natural Journeys family, please share your fat loc'd hair end avoidance tips!

Momma's Silky Locs...DONE

Anthia-ofo , just a lil' follow-up on my momma and her silky locs... Well, one of my brothers saw her head and said, "You look like Kizzy!" With that... my momma contacted her beautician, set an appointment and had those silky locs washed right out!! She was back to her press-and-curl style by the next time I laid eyes upon her. Anthia-ofo , so much for "hope [that] she goes all the way and gets locked up!" She not ready... yet! We keep hope alive, though... huh, Anthia-ofo !?

Myyyyy Momma Got Silky Locs!?

“I guess you are gonna say that I’m tryin’ to copy YOU…” my mom began, talking to me on her cell phone. I was the first person my momma called on her way home from the salon... She already knew how daddy was gonna react to her decision to try silky locs. My dad is a licensed barber and likes to threaten to cut my Sisterlocks off. His way of jokingly expressing his dislike for my loc'd hair in addition to his direct statements of dislike about my hair. Anyway... momma already knew what she was up against in heading home to her husband--my dad. I was on the phone when she entered the house greeting my dad saying, "Hey love..." I could hear my daddy in the background grunting, "ughhh!" Momma and I both laughed. Actually, I think it was me laughing louder than momma. Momma went right into explaining why she had gotten THIS style. A little background info: my mom recently retired, yet is about to start a new job that requires her to travel (daddy goes too). So my ...
