Looser Sisterlocks Curly Fro

This is my version of YouTuber DeidraMM's   Sisterlock Curly Fro ... For my version I attempted to somewhat maintain the A-line stacked Bob haircut effect I was going for in having my locks of 9 years cut this way. (My hair still doesn't stack high like I envision it to... got that fine hair...but people say that they can see the wedge-effect, particularly when my head down...) I used Lottabody setting lotion on my dampen hair, Lock Loops in the top of my head and pipe cleaners in the back. I resisted finger-combing my hair much by just merely shaking my head to breakup the curls in my hair. I created this look in the summertime so my curls did fall quickly at the longest part of my head: the top. As such, I did have to revisit the hair rolling process again, but on the second go around, I used only pipe cleaners for the curls that had fallen out due to the humidity. It came out pretty good...but now I'm wondering if my diluted Lottabody solution is too watery......

My SpringLocks Results

You've seen her YouTube videos all over the web... no doubt, you've seen the results of her beautiful SpringLocks techique on her client Antoinette's Sisterlocks . I recently placed an order for her most recent instructional video. Now... you, my Natural Journeys readers, already know that pipecleaners are my curling tool of choice among hair spools, SoftSpikes , the Wrap-A-Loc tool , and bantu knots. Truly, it's all in the technique because the tools are simple. Those who are "in the know" you must compensate ... and I ain't mad at 'em! Go forth my dear sistahprenuers! I'm very pleased with my results!! Thanks Phyllis-the Videotician for sharing. I love the Web for learning ANYTHING about which I'm ignorant. My photos posted here show my good and BAD technique and my really nice results-- for the FIRST TIME. I've been rockin' my long lasting set for a week now. LOVE IT!

My Pipe cleaner and SoftSpikes Curls!

I wanted to show the results I get from curling my Sisterlocks with SoftSpikes and pipe cleaners. See my tranformation... I really, really should a holding foam or something on my hair when I do this because my curls are never as tight as I WOULD LIKE THEM using the SoftSpikes.

The Salkis Re Sisterlocks Roller Set Technique

I have used the Salkis Re roller set technique before but didn't have a digital camera at the time. So, now you all get to see my results adapted with a mixture of perm rods, sponge rollers, hair spools, and pipe cleaners:   USE WHAT YOU'VE GOT TO GET WHAT YOU WANT... my results were very nice again! Thx Salkis Re of combmyhair.com

My pipe cleaners spiral curls REALLY LAST!

I really love how long my curls lasted me. I REALLY need to use a styling foam to hold my curls. THAT has been my missing ingredient! I ending up washing the curls out after a week of just going to bed and getting up-- no re-rolling. Those curls were in there firmly. My scalp started to itch. That's why I went on and washed my hair. Had my scalp not itched, I sure would have rocked on with my curly SLs! I love the exchange of 1 hour of rolling for 7 days of curls. I did updos, headbands and freestyle hanging hairstyles over the course of the week. I musta been lookin' half way decent 'cause my three daughters said, "Momma, you look HOT!" Outta the mouths of babes... INNOCENT CLARITY It's official folks... 3girlsmomma is in her extra curly Sisterlocks!

Pipe Cleaner, Spoolies, and Wrap-A-Loc Tool Sisterlocks Spiral Curls

Here are my results from using pipe cleaners, Spoolies (hair spools) and the Wrap-A-Loc tool . I only use black in case of pipe cleaner shedding. Of course, to avoid shedding issues and snagging from the inexpensive pipe cleaner, I do recommend UPGRADING to the Wrap-A-Loc Tool. (Times got a lil' tight in MY household financially so I haven't yet purchased the longer Wrap-A-Loc Tool that WOULD accommodate my new hair length. Ya gotta do what you gotta do to get stuff done, ya know... ) Click play button to see more pics. Nowadays, I only use my Spoolies and Wrap-A-Loc tools for a single strand of loc that I may have missed; but only because the amount of hair these particular size tools hold have become limited since I have more length AND thickness per loc. I just let these curls hang all day. I never broke him up at all. I really liked the look!
