Natural Journeys: My Sisterlocks and stuff

God bless Paulette, Ashlee and Atoya-- Certified Sisterlocks Consultants of Locks4Life!! It seemed to be Kids Day at the salon. There were two 6-year-olds in the shop during the beginning of Ms.ZB's Sisterlocks installing session. Well, after 9 hours and multiple breaks-- Paulette and Ashlee had become worn out over my baby's head with all of her moving, slouching, and sleeping curled into a ball in the salon chair. Plus, Ms.ZB is TENDER-HEADED!! Then, Paulette made the dreaded announcement: "We are going to have to finish this another day." Knowing how booked the Certified Consultants of Locks4Life are I wasn't sure when Day 2 would be... Turned out that it would be 3 days later. I KNEW Paulette and Ashley HAD TO HAVE BEEN WORN-OUT because they admitted to only having 3 move hours of work to go! I am very compliant with my SL Consultant Paulette so DID NOT press the issue...   Did you think I was JUST talking about my Sisterlocks?! Gotcha! I'm and I'm not actually... I have been just so touched by how fast my kids are growing. These girls are my twins. Two-thirds of my offspring. McKenzie here just lost her first top tooth on Friday. While, her twin sister (the older one by 20 minutes) lost her second top tooth just the day before on Thursday. Oh my twin babies, weren't, and aren't, they just the cutest! (Having a Mommy moment totally right here...just bare with me...) To think... these babies (preemies born 2 months early) grow and mature much like our locs. Just continue about your everyday routine and regimen... then before you know it, you'll see major growth. You might lose a figurative tooth along the way (like that initial self-consciousness of really being nappy in a public of perm-out and weaved-up beauties), but it's all good... 'Cause guess what? We are all the happier for it. Water is now OUR friend. Hope you, too...

Well... my daughter is definitely 7-years old! While she has never-- to my knowledge-- gone to bed with gum in her mouth, she chose to do so WITH newly installed Sisterlocks...and, YOU GUESSED IT... she GOT CHEWING GUM IN HER Sisterlocks!! sigh... This post by Sisterlock Consultant Tonita from the LockItUp Yahoo Group was just so well said that I HAD to post it on my blog: For many it is not an easy decision to change hair styles. With SL's you are changing your hair completely and that causes some anxiety. Before SLs I trusted my cosmetologist to perm, style, condition, braid, jheri curl or whatever to my hair. Rarely did I ask questions or felt like I needed to. I sat in the chair and knew I would be pleased when I left. SL consultants are operating on the same principle. We do good work. Your consultant's goal is to do her very best for you and all others who seek her services. Some consultants aren't cosmetologists, but the love of locks brought them to SLs and they to share it with others by installing and maintaining locks. Don't be concerned about every step of the process. Don't fret if you have 349 locks instead of 350, don't examine every lock for perfection, don't worry about slippage it...

( RIGHT PHOTO: Sisterlocks Install JULY 2005)   Doing a little cleaning up around my house this summer, I happen to find these photos...and then I realized that I am officially within my 3rd year of being Sisterlock'd! JULY 2008 Looking at my hair today I then I thought to myself, "whoa... my hair is happy being natural in these Sisterlocks! Good choice, Kecia. Good choice indeed!"     To all of you out there considering Sisterlocks I say, "Do your research about Sisterlocks and... JUST GET IT DONE !"
