Wow! Today, I completed the Sisterlocks Retightening Class at Locks4Life- Oak Park (Metro Detroit) with my SL Consultant Paulette Brown. It was just Paulette and me in today's class. "Excellent", I thought, "one-to-one training" and it was. The time went by fast.
I felt pretty good about learning the moves for my #4 pattern so quickly. But the true test begins NOW... on my own. No more readily available assistance when I'm screaming, "Help, Paulette! I've got the tool caught in my hair!!" ...or, "Ahhhh, I forgot what rotation I'm on!"
As I gather my stuff to section off a single row of my 500 or so SLs... how do I feel right now after taking the SL Retightening Class?
Well, I am proud of myself for taking this step. Honestly, with every properly pulled through rotation I smile inside. Only INSIDE, though...LOL... recognizing that I've got a lot more hair to do. It is kinda overwhelming too as I'm hopeful I shall improve my efficiency before my hair grows even more-- which is a good thing, now gone "bad" if don't get my locks all retightened in a reasonable amount of time.
I'm doin' it though! I'm doin' it... I psych myself by considering my breastfeeding experience. Breastfeeding was a PROCESS that I stuck with for 1 year through all sorts of challenges including corrective surgery after birth complications with my first child. Only to then become pregnant with twins, another high risk scenario for me with the pregnancy and different challenges times two breastfeeding the twins as well.
Ooooohhh, but don't cry for me. I GOT GOOD breastfeeding my twins. I could-- and would-- do it anywhere. I could feed 'em both and talk on the phone... I was GOOD. (I have photographic proof, but I'll spare you that pic.)
I can do this DIY retightening thing too!
Stay tuned... I WILL post pics of my FIRST finished work!
CLEARLY...I WON'T BE ONLINE for a while... Pray for a sista!
