"Hey Mom, I'm practicing my multiplication facts!"

"> Educators take a moment a check out Timez Attack. It is an impressive new video game exclusively for learning multiplication tables . It's as high-tech and entertaining as a top video game, yet as rigorous and effective as one-on-one training with a skilled teacher. I’m a teacher of students with learning disabilities and emotional impairments who love playing video games, yet NEED basic math facts instruction. This works for them! School budgets are tight. However, do at least review this educational game as a possibility for future purchase. There is a free version available…check it out! There is one huge downfall…presently this program only runs on PCs, not MACs.

Time Magazine Covers Our Jackson/Mayes Family Reunion

The weekend of July 7th and 8th in Michigan brought beautiful summer temps that were not too hot or humid, but JUST RIGHT...God truly smiled upon us last weekend. After 2 years of preparation (not to mention the LAST MINUTE CHANGES...) , the Jackson/Mayes 5th Family Reunion was great a success! The Jackson/Mayes Detroit Experience was big fun and new relationships were forged. Family members joined the Michigan Host Family from Georgia, Florida, New York, and Colorado. There were so many surprises!! Who knew so many of our family members of every age could sing so well!! Move over American Idol...WE ROCK!! Our family sung unique renditions of the Motown Classics and our kids sang very spirited tracks from Disney's High School Musical kareoke CD. The surprise appearance of a certain family member who had been so instrumental in jumpstarting the Michigan host family's planning efforts for this year's events after it was confirmed that she would not attend, pleased us beyon...

Happy 4th of July!

Who doesn't like to see his/her name in "lights"?

I'm one of those parents today who favors unusual names. Gone are the days when over half of the children born were given popular names. More and more parents are choosing unheard of foreign names, old fashioned names pulled out of the attic and dusted off, place names not commonly used as given names, and made up names. The upshot of this is that unusual names are hardly handicap they once were. Little boys named Zarek or Eamon are going to fit in, rather than stand out like a sore thumb in a sea of Johns, Jasons, and Davids. Instead of thinking that London is a weird name, people see it as a nice alternative to Dakota and Montana-- for girls . The down side with names like Kecia, London, Kennedy, McKenzie, Cynee, or Kendal you have a hard time finding personalized stuff. NO more!! Visit my very own Personalization Mall.com...who better to have one than a "Kecia" huh?!?!

Memorial Day Weekend in Detroit Brought Record Temps

Finally, it felt like summer in Michigan. The recordbreaking heat, although long awaited, was a total shock to many of us Michiganians. We went from weeks of being in the 40 -50ish degree mark to 90 plus degrees. Wow! It was HOT, HOT, HOT!! I for one LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't wait to try out my new lactose tolerant existance at....yes, you guess it....Cold Stone Creamery. I, along with my family and children's godfather, Alex, enjoyed our own ice cream creations in fresh baked waffle cups! My waffle cup was dipped in chocolate in nuts...yum!! And I ate it all right there at the store. How'd did I feel? Well, I was pleased that my stomach was NOT erupting like Mount St. Helens...but, I did has a bit of gas and by the time I got home I did have to poop. All in all...I'm STILL very pleased with having completed the Lactagen 38-day regieme because I was NOT in any pain and my gas was NOT foul. Furthermore, I went on to eat some of my children's ice cream tha...
